Case Report 7 - Adult Female onset age 24 showing progression to age 44

Parry Romberg Syndrome Adult Female onset age 24 showing progression to 44Age of onset:  Initial symptoms appeared at age 24 soon after birth of her child. 

Initial Symptoms:  A white patch on lower left corner of mouth appeared which progressed down chin and back up into cheek.  White patch resembled a faded out scar. 

Medications tried:  Fluocinonide cream 0.1%

Progressive Symptoms:  Diagnosed with hemifacial atrophy around age 27 by a maxofacial orthodontist.  Over the past year and a half, the disease has become bilateral causing beginning atrophy on right side of face.

Patient has concerns that Parry-Romberg Syndrome may have relationship with Lupus since mother has Lupus (discoid) and patient’s daughter has systemic Lupus/nephritis. 

Strongly desires microvascular surgery for improvement of facial wasting but does not have insurance. 10/1/08
